Ulric Husbands or Ricky Husbands is popularly known in Brazil as ‘OJAMAICANO’ He was born in Georgetown, Guyana, South Americato immigrant Caribbean parents. His music career started in church when he was encouraged by the Elders of his church to sing at almost all church events.

As a young man he met Vibert Aaron a drummer and producer. Vibert recognized Ricky’s talent and introduced him to the professional world. He first started with the Young Ambassadors and then he linked up with Cutis MG’s, regarded as one of the hottest bands at the time. He was given the opportunity to open shows for some famous Calypsonians – the Mighty Sparrow, Lord Kitchener and other well known artistes such as Boris Gardener, Stevie Wonder and the Maytals. Ricky’s sojourn in music led him to Rukiza Okera a talented guitarist and composer. Rukiza encouraged Ricky to record some of his songs. Their partnership took them to Suriname. In Suriname, they met Antoon Sang Ayang of the Ventu Studios.

Success came almost immediately, he recorded three hit song “Birds On a Fence’, ‘Oneness’ and ‘Blowing Hot’ These songs rocked Suriname, the Caribbean and some parts of Europe”. These hit songs were distributed under the well known name Duehsmo Syndicate guaranteeing record sales. In 1986 Duehsmo Syndicate performed before an audience of over 40,000 persons at Suriname’s football Stadium backed by Steel Pulse in an opening act. Duehsmo Syndicate performed in Brazil in 1987 touring the following cities, Maranhao, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Brasilia and Theater Castor Alves Bahia. In 1990 Ricky returned to Bahia to work with Roland Pro Audio. During that time Jimmy Cliffy a Jamaican reggae star was producing his break out album by Caesar Napoli. Caesar was also producing Ricky’s demo and he invited him to sing with Mr., Cliff. Ricky recorded another hit song ‘Harder Now’.

Ricky spent seven years with Jimmy Cliff. He then decided to go solo using the same band members but renaming the band Zeed Resolution. It took awhile for Zeed Resolution to gain recognition by local musicians. However Ricky continued with his band at shopping centers where digital sound machine played, shopping piedage, lapa, ponto alto, itaigara, and at aero club plaza shows. His perseverance and actions caught the attention of radio and TV stations and some newspapers. Ricky and his band were soon invited to open shows. He opened shows for Gregory Isaacs, Starlights, Chiclete Com, Banana Lasso and Israel Vibration. The band also performed in local shows: Fenagro and Eco Arts Festival 2002. Carnival 2003 along with Coracao Rastafari was also a part of the band’s acts.

Ricky’s travels took him to Jamaica, the reggae capital of the world. There he recorded his upcoming album ‘Believe in the Oneness’. While in Jamaica he met some of Jamaica’s top artistes in Kingston and St. Ann’s Bay the birthplace of Bob Marley.

Ricky is now performing at his peak and has the following songs under his ‘belt’. He is now touring. Ricky now sings on the Chain Gang/Flynn & Flynn Music label.

Instrumental Reggae

The past 40 years of Jamaican music history has seen classic instrumental albums from premier Jamaican musicians including Ernie Ranglin, Jackie Mittoo, Monty Alexander, Augustus Pablo, Sly & Robbie and Dean Fraser. Now, with "89th Ave", Dr. Paul is joining the select ranks of these veteran musical maestros.

"89th Ave" is the name of the album from the versatile Dr. Paul. 89th Ave is also the street in Tamarac, Florida, where Dr. Paul lives. 89th Ave was recorded and mixed in the Chain Gang Studio.

Dr. Paul's exciting, all-instrumental, self-produced, debut solo album has fifteen tracks -seven originals and eight covers. Dr. Paul is a bass guitarist. This CD also features Eugene Grey on jazz guitar, and Third World's Cat Coore playing rock guitar on the track "Marcus" and blowing harmonica on "Journey". Before Dr. Paul built his reputation as an innovative engineer at the Chain Gang Studio, he was best known as a Reggae bassist -a 'baaad' bass guitar player. Dr. Paul began his career as a session musician at the Aquarius Studio in Kingston, Jamaica before becoming the bass player for Gregory Isaacs. Later on, he founded and played bass for the Ryddim Kings and the Ruff Kutt bands. By the late 1980's, Dr. Paul was Shabba Rank's musical director during the former King of DJ's glorious "House Call" Grammy reign.
Today, as a reputed musical genius, Dr. Paul has played, recorded and re-mixed for a host of Reggae artists, from Gregory Isaacs to Beenie Man, and many more in between. In the meantime, many of the underground mix tapes making the rounds locally were originally recorded at the Chain Gang Studio. Now, Dr. Paul has focused his many years of experience in all the technical aspects of the music business, and has successfully channeled this vibrant street/stage/studio energy into the rhythmic grooves of every track on this must-have album called "89th Ave".

Tabu's interest in music began at the early age of ten. She was born Lori Ann Levy, in Hartford, Connecticut and grew up in Enfield, Connecticut. Her older brother was a DJ and Tabu spent a lot of time with him listening to the latest music. She found that she enjoyed listening, but singing brought her so much more enjoyment. Her father played the guitar, her mother played piano and music seemed to be "in the genes" as they say. She began her professional career in music over ten years ago. Tabu began playing the flute, writing lyrics and music and found herself driven by a force beyond her upon entering her teens. She focused on vocal training, while taking advantage of every opportunity to sing.

Tabu competed in the Connecticut, Miss Sportsmen Pageant in which she demonstrated style, poise and grace, but all who attended were particularly impressed with her rendition of "Home" from "The Wiz". She brought home the winning trophy. As a result of that exposure she was asked to become one of two lead singers with the Rhythm Force Band, a popular reggae band in the northeast at that time. Tabu released two singles with the group. The first written by Tabu, entitled "Let's Start Something New" and a remake of Jodey Watley's "Lookin' for A New Love" on the Rhythm Force label. She toured with various bands in the northeast performing everything from studio-one style to dance hall. Reggae was just the beginning for the sultry songstress. She was determined to explore a variety of musical styles as well as develop her talents within the music industry. R & B, Pop and Jazz all played pivotal roles in shaping the well rounded singer.

Tabu continued to sing with various bands opening for performers such as Yellowman, Beres Hammond, Marcia Griffiths, Jose Wales, Supercat, Sugar Minot, Frankie Paul, Lavert, the O'Jays, and Crystal Gayle. She has performed, written and released original works in all genres over the years. Princess Black (Charmaine Glegg) a singing-DJaying Princess in the Kingdom of Truth and Rights, has released her second single from her debut album entitled "The truth and nothing but the Truth".

A relatively new sovereign to the reggae dynasty of roots and culture music. Princess Black started singing-‘DJaying’ in the early nineties when she got strong encouragement from friends and family. "I remember", she said, "I used to go over to a friend Tal Patrick, who is a lover of music and has a turntable, speaker box and a mike in his garage. Sometimes we would rehearse all night. Prior to that I was a member of my church choir."

In 1994, Princess Black, who resided in South Florida, traveled to Jamaica at her own expense and secured the services of musician Danny Thompson and produced her first single "All I Got". This single was well received in Jamaica. Sonic Sounds Manufacturing did the distribution.

"On my return to South Florida", said Princess Black, "I took copies of the song to WAVS Radio and the next day I heard it playing on the radio. Then I met producer-musician Dr. Paul, who is noted for being Shabba Ranks' musical director, band leader and bassist during his reign of hits and two (2) Grammy's. I gave him a copy of "All I Got" he said he would be interested in recording a song with me and from then on we've been working together".

Princess Black and Dr. Paul have been in and out of the studio and have completed an album. "The Truth and Nothing but the Truth" comprises 12 tracks mixing from Hard Core Dancehall and Traditional One Drop, to Hip Hop Reggae, featuring vocals and DJ Rap. From the title track "The Truth", Princess Black reveals her intention to speak out on social topics like "Married Man" and "Part Time Lover" on the political song "What a Na Na" she expresses her admonition, while on tracks like the religious "Bible Readings" and historical "Israelite" she preaches and teaches about life.

This collection is balanced with amusing Hip Hop "Fight over Man" and "Criss Car " for an entertaining and informative album. Most tracks have Princess Black's input as a writer, she explains, "I try to write based on my experience and what I see happening to other people. I write about the truth". When asked about her mentors, she explains, "My favorite female singer is Judy Mowatt and Lady G is my favorite artist". Princess Black continues to say, "I try to stay away from the politics in the Industry, however much respect to Dr Paul who has exposed me to the ins and out of the business". In the caring hands of the good Dr. Paul the Charming Princess is off on a Royal Mission.

Rahmani made her professional debut on the entertainment scene in 1985. The development of her talent in a variety of musical styles began in the warmth of a southern church where she began to explore the power of a Gospel choir. Next on the agenda was the contemporary sounds of Rhythm & Blues. But why stop there? She then ventured into the realm of reggae where she began touring with New England's #1 Reggae Band, One Love. Well versed in all three styles, Rahmani has taken the music industry by storm. Her powerful yet sultry distinctive vocal style compliments bands both in Reggae and the R&B industry. Early on, the singer dabbled with the xylophone and flute, but soon found that her first love was singing.

Rahmani's musical influences range from the strength and power of her mother's natural talents, to the low mellow tones of the well known Luther Vandross and Regina Bell. The dynamic singer has also nurtured her talents as a songwriter, which her debut CD clearly demonstrates.
Rahmani has opened for such artists as Sugar Minott, Judy Mowatt, Michael Rose, Tony Rebel, Freddie McGregor and the Mighty Sparrow, just to name a few. No doubt, the name to remember is Rahmani. So just sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Reggae, R & B

Michael Anthony Francis. He uses his first and middle names Michael Anthony as his stage name. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica . He acquired his early childhood love for music from his father. as an inheritance from his father, now deceased, who sang back-up vocal for various popular Jamaican Reggae bands in the late 60's. At the tender age of five, Michael Anthony appeared on a kid's Christmas show displaying his early talent as a singer, which resulted in his being the first place winner of the contest and receiving a toy guitar as prize.

It was, however, during his teenage and high school years that he really discovered his passion for music. At school, he was a member of his school choir. Though they mostly performed only on school campuses, this did well for his voice training and stage adaptation. At home there was no rest from music. As a teenager, he spent his leisure time writing songs, rehearsing and singing them. He was obsessed with the singing styles of David Ruffin (the Temptations) and the likes of Jerry Butler and Sam Cooke. As a member of his community club, he was called upon to sing at all their fund raising concerts.

During high school he performed in an all-male trio singing group the "Atomics". He was their lead vocalist. They did no recordings. But he group gave him exposure in that it performed at various school graduation ceremonies, doing hit Rhythm and Blues of Top American artistes, They won the hearts of their audiences.

After school, the group broke up, but the young, talented singer, in his effort to continue, formed a group of the same name (Atomics). However, this group was short-lived but in their short time two reggae singles were recorded.
With determination and a goal in mind, the young talented singer went on as a solo artist recording and performing Reggae & R & B as Michael Anthony. He appeared on various shows and at a few hotels on the island. He was eager to reveal his talent.

Michael Anthony, who now resides in the
U.S., sees this as his grand opportunity to take his solo career to stardom. His lifetime dream of being an R&B vocalist is near fulfillment. This is exposed in his first single, "Experience Teaches You", which can be placed between R&B and Hip Hop. This single shows versatility of this promising singer, adding a touch of rap to his style. Michael Anthony, the songwriter, singer, performer and musical arranger, sees music as the international language of love. Michael believes music is working wonders around the world, slowly bringing all nations together and humanity on a whole to realize what real love is. With love for people and music, what better ingredients can one ask for to a known promising star? Michael Anthony has another release "Heartbreaker".

Hip Hop

In 1986 at Hartford hospital on March 16th a special child was born. I would say special because I was born with eczema all over my body, which caused me to stand out a lot of the time. Sometimes I ask the Lord why I was born this way, but I can't get an answer that would be my first question for him on judgement day. At times I feel there is no point in living because the only thing that makes me happy on this earth is money and that is why I chose the name CA$H. I always loved to rap because I was so angry at the world. I grew up listening to Mobb Deep / Nas / Coremega and a lot of other underground rappers.

Music plays a big role in my life. I never learned to play an instrument because all my music is made from the heart and soul. I play what I feel. I want to enter the music industry to change the game with my new style and my new way of thinking. I believe in myself and that I can indeed change the game.

  Jazz, Blues

As a baby Caitlin listened to her parents music which included jazz, blues, rock, country, gospel and soul. She started writing and publishing poetry when she entered fifth grade which got her through some hard times. When she entered sixth grade, her own taste for musci started to flourish and she craved for something that related to her poetry which was hip hop and rap. She gained many friends during her freshman and sophomore years as well as her nick name "Shorty" due to her height.

All of what rap artists were saying related to her on different levels. She began to study new things as it pertained to the hip hop game and study certain techniques. Shorty and her friends went from freestyling (the action of improving lyrics over instrumentals) in cars, to freestyling at parties to freestyling in her basement.

Shorty trys to involve everything she knows and has learned in her different twist of lyrics and the emotion she unleashes behind the microphone. From the power of the rich man, to the sorrow of a rape victim, to stories of a homeless man, to a pregnat girl's wisdom, Shorty brings knowledge, truth and depth to the American society.
